Seeing as no one has mentioned it, congrats to NSW METRO boys for beating the Vics and winning the gold for the 2nd year in a row. The team was unbeaten for the week and well deserved winners. 3 players from last year's winning U16 team made the step up as bottom agers and got the job done again.

Yes Congrats indeed to the NSW boys. Well deserved no doubt.
Bit of a worry for the Vics??? What has happened to the domination that was once enjoyed? Will there be any changes to the coaching staff / selection criteria after the boys have missed out in the U18's two years in a row.....probably not, but begs the question!

Could be interesting. I guess NSW Metro would have to be favourites next year as well with the group that won in 16's, and the 4 (Thanks Shrek, I forgot Mkabwe) that backed up this year more than likely there again. Could it be a NSW dynasty!!

Interesting composition of the NSW team as well - 4 from Norths.
Plus Norths had 3 players as Reserves.
Definite power shift in talent in Sydney Metro and good to see the Norths Association benefiting from a reportedly very good development program.

Probably one of the best financially supported associations. It certainly helps

I don't think we can call it a power shift. Norths might be on top of the table in 18's but that is only because Manly has yet to play Hills in round 5. In 16's they are last and in 14's and 12's they sit in 5th.
Norths under 18's have been good for a while now, but the success of your program is not based on one team

Undoubtedly. It's certainly paid for a large collection of banners hanging in the stadium which I know impressed AHA ;)

My understanding from a couple of people that Ive talked to, is that there is a small amount of coaches that do all of the work developing the players at norths. Sadly, they are not welcomed into the fold by the association.
In fact, the club choose to not give one of their coaches the team that he would have liked after he took the 14girls to the first national championships that they ever attended!?!
The domination of the boys is now over and was only with a small group over 4 years, this included a couple of Australian reps and was/is due to the parents of those players. Again one of the most polarising, yet basketball-knowledgeable coaches that the club ever had was ousted, because he tried to bring a level of professionalism to the club that scared some.
Have a look at how many basketball acknowledged people have gone there only to leave in frustration due to a lack of support from the administration.

Norths isn't the only place that happens. Most other associations in Sydney and around the state have got coaches they've pissed off and abused over the years. This is just the most recent one to come to light.
