Graffy was in the crowd at the Flames v Thunder thriller probably forward scouting for the Caps upcoming clash against Logan.

She could not have overlooked the incredible performance of Kristen Veal. This was another example of the blistering form that Vealy is in this season.

Asst-8; St-7;TO-1; Rbds-9; Pts-23.

We have some fine guard contenders but not many of them are capable of consistently recording those kinds of stats!! Vealy is simply magic and is in career best form - form that has been building over the last few seasons to the point where it's just impossible to ignore.

I saw the ABC coverage of the Bulleen v Rangers game and although Abby Bishop had one of the best performances I've seen from her in a long while, the Rangers best player for me was Kathleen MacLeod backing up her player of the round performance last week. It's almost an understatement to say it, but McLeod is the heart and soul of all that is good about Dandenong this season.

Hopefully both players can continue to impress into the finals. They are certainly doing everything right to force their way into an Opals 12 for London.

Bishop took too many shots for my liking.

It will be interesting to see what Carrie Graf does about the point guard situation for the Opals.

Tully has retired & Kristi probably should too.

I've always rated Kristen Veal highly but I have my doubts about whether she will get the gig.

Not sold on Kathleen MacLeod. I think we can do better.

Samatha Richards will likely be going to London but she's more likely to be a back-up player rather than running the show when the heat is on.

In terms of talent & potential, I think Alison Lacey has more than any of them. She would need to oust both of the Nicole's at Canberra though before she can be seriously considered.

Nat Hurst's European form may bring her into contention but it's unlikely to be as the starting pg for the Opals. She'd be happy with a back-up role.

At this point, I'd be going with Veal and keeping a close eye on Lacey's development (which Graf is well placed to do).

If we're going to go with Kristi, we may as well un-retire Tully while we're at it.

Lacey has the potential to become an exciting player but she really is yet to hit her straps. I thought by now well and truly she would be in pretty good form. She was a fantastic player at Iowa state, so she certainly has the ability but it just seems like she is struggling to find herself after a pretty good college career.

Veal has been very impressive this year. She's certainly a great player. It seems like a very, very long time ago since she got drafted to Phoenix and I'm surprised she hasn't gotten a gig over there since her two year stint. But the fact is, is on the wrong side of 25 and is yet to have come close to playing a major international tournament. Yes, Tully B started her international career late, but she had been playing in the WNBA, and recognised as one of the best defensive players for many seasons before finally getting selected.

Erin Phillips is probably our next best option. Yes, she may be better suited to the SG position, but she is probably the strongest and most physical guard we now have. Maybe Richards, but I'm not sure if Macloud could keep of with some of the elite international guards both defensively and offensively.

Veal is a great feeder. makes other players look good.

It would be great to see her get a chance at the next level!!
