So long as the last one is it's the one that counts. I do get what you're saying though, nothing worse than forcing up bidding on false pretences in an auction situation.

I'm not sure, but I get the feeling that $15k per head is nudging close to what this would actually cost. Which is fine, why not have the money go to charity rather than the travel agent? But once it gets beyond the actual price, I don't see the point.

Well, I do see some extra for a donation of one's own and appreciate that there are money-can't-buy experiences in there, too. Hard to quantify as it'd depend on how you personally value those.

I just answered my own question. Pointless post, now, really. But, as I've typed it...

A dirty one??? :p

In all seriousness, it's a farkin shocking thing to do, but there are plenty of tools out there that don' think about it that way.

Auctions finished:

Boguts: $38,200 for 4 people = $9550 each
Cahill's: $37,100 for 2 people = $18,550 each

Pretty good IMO.... Some things in each that money can't buy!

Good on the winners.

Boguts a bargain IMO. If you had three mates each with $10K to burn it's not bad at all.

Hmmm, no one mentioned the automation software. You seem to know a little too much about what went on, boz.

How many fake bids do you think came from people with a personal or family link to flood affected areas, trying to get as much cash as they can for the area?

I don't know why you would need price automation software. Ebay does it for you... just enter a huge bid and ebay will keep upping it until your bid has been reached.

Gotta say that was a silly silly thing to do.

All it does is taint the auction with a silliness and a belief may be held by sincere people with money to avoid returning to bid as the presence of your sort of bid makes a mockery of it all.

See, this is where a personal agenda to attack at every perceived opportunity has one blinded to reality.

Bullsyte. He posted that is what he did and there were tossers who were doing precisely that.

Sure. Now he says he was having a tug. If he had used the typical conventions - particularly in that thread where we were discussing precisely that sort of moronic behaviour - such as an emoticon or some other device like a ;) - then of course, the response would have been different.

And hardly an attack.

"Perceived" had zip to do with it an and all about calling out a moron on a confession of acting moronically.

I wouldn't have thought that such a joke needed any assistance to explain exactly how it was meant to be perceived...unless the person who misses the joke is quite dim. Never heard of deadpan?

Who's "we"? It's only you that didn't get the joke, not for the first time either, and also not for the first time, you'd rather explain how the other possible outcomes hold more weight than someone slapping you in the head with a simple explanation. Lets just say that Russian hackers invaded the auction and put in those false bids, ok?

If I cared what you thought of me, I'd make sure I put sufficient emoticons in. As it turns out, I don't, and anyone that is too thick to understand the joke is not my target audience.
