Hoping for a return to the winners list for us ( Finally!)
Couldn't see anywhere on the Crocs site ... but does that radio station of yours still do their wonderfully biased coverage of all Crocs games??

No, mate, none of that anymore.
I know of no special circumstances for either of these teams that gives them an edge. I don't think "hungry for a win" after, what is it, 13 straight losses? counts for anything after about the fifth.
So, with the Crocs going ok, just ok, but the Kings sucking, I'm going to say the Crocs will get this one.

Honestly - if the boys cant go to Sydney and slap those girls around and win by a healthy margin - they're pretenders.
Crocs by 8-10
If that’s true Prodigal, I cant see them having any hope of turning the season around. It would explain why they drop off in second halves. Surely they are training more than that?? Who’s their strength and conditioning guy, Mark Philippousis?

Certainly something I had heard (and posted) previously. The bit about training 2-3 times a week.
Anyway Dickel back and ready.
http://www.townsvillebulletin.com.au/article/2011/01/06/197891_sport.html
I thought these comments were worth discussion.
"What he's found in less than a month in Sydney is that coaching isn't the problem with the Kings. "I really feel that Moose (coach Ian Robilliard) and Conner (assistant Conner Henry) aren't being given any slack," Dickel said.
"The way they have prepared the side in my time here has been fine, they are doing their job. It's us, the players who have to take more responsibility and deliver."
Cedar doubtful.

Well if Mark is being candid then that is a good sign, because he has played for some good teams here and abroad. But would he say the opposite if it were true? The proof will be on the court now that he is ready. If they don’t look organised after a 2-3 games with him in the line-up the finger would have to be pointed at the coaches.
All I want from the Kings is some really competitive performances (wins or losses in the last minute) in their tv games, particularly on Australia Day when they are on Ten.

Would he say the opposite if he thought he could get a Head Coaching job there this season or next season? Of course not.
Anyone think the starting lineup is unbalanced with Sanders at SG, and Gilder at SF? I think these guys are too similar to start together and Sanders is more of an SF than an SG. Having Gilder come off the bench may also relieve the pressue on him and provide instant offense when the starters are off.

If crocs play like they did against NZ, Kings might as well not show up. I saw that hungry look in Ros's eyes in the last qtr when he was grabbing the rebounds and looking back at the crocs bench , i think the spark is back .... here we go crocs, all the way to the playoffs !

Agreed. I see Gilder as more of a backup 3/4 based on his form to date & I don't think you'll find anybody not on the Kings payroll who would disagree with Madgen getting more minutes.
I was wondering if they might even start Dickel but it's probably a bit too soon for that.

Madge would be better coming of the bench. I would start Ryan in the 2....
100% agree with you about the men in charge!!
''It was a terrible time {For the Swans}. We lost 26 in a row, and that was home and away games, but there were also lots of pre-season games in the middle as well, and I can't remember winning any of those either,'' says Paul Kelly, who played in all 26 games, and captained the club in 1993. ''Looking back, it was hard to see how we got through. All you can do is persevere. We were lucky we had a core group that were able to push through those terrible times. We just had to put our heads down and work hard, and hope to get better - that's what we did. We weren't a great footy team but we were all pretty solid blokes just trying to do the best we could. We started every game thinking we were a chance. A lot of the times we could win a half or even three quarters, we just couldn't finish it off. Maybe teams didn't take us as seriously, and it took them a half to get going. ''As the losses grew, I think it worried teams we were playing more than us. They were getting nervous knowing we would win one sooner or later, and they didn't want it to be them.''
As someone who witnessed the long losing streak for the Razorbacks, I find this quote to ring very true.

You also gotta have the plays to get him & your shooters the ball??
Ryan is done, this is his last season, why invest those minutes in him, when you can invest them in Madgen?

Agreed. I can't understand how Moose is still coach. The only way I can explain it is a) a lack of funds to be able to do anything about it; b) personal loyalty between Turner and Moose or c) a combination of a) and b). Surely the board's patience is near exhaustion!

He's averaging 3x as much of a chance as a much higher quality younger player has been given recently and not producing anymore... I think giving Madge the starting position would give him a huge boost and I think take the pressure off of him to come in and force things... But what do I know? I'm not a coach...

Ha... I think we're lucky to have a glass, and I doubt that it's even half full ;)
As for Dickel's comments, there's really no other thing he can say really, and Jules has been on the record as saying pretty much the same thing... I for one can't wait to see what Dickel does on court however... A lot rests on his shoulders...

It could also have the "Lisch-effect" on "Clutch" Ryan; where he can watch the game unfold a bit before coming in.

well, in the game of heads and tails, it's GOT to fall both ways EVENTUALLY... It's up to the individual as to whether they prefer tail or head...
Even if he's lost his quickness and is just a normal player speed, hopefully being able to watch the last few games from the sideline will have given Dickel an opportunity to apply his experience and PG savvy to what's needed and when...
The last few games (at least those that I've seen) have shown glimpses of the Kings trying to get their shooters open, hopefully we can see more of that and getting the ball inside to some targets...

Dickel said in the article I linked to, "I'm not as fast, or as athletic, that would be impossible. But I know I shoot the ball a lot better than I did back then".
Let's hope his observations of the coaches are as good as his shooting ability. ;)

Dann started ahead of Knight last week and made a good job of it, including finding Khazzouh in the paint with the first play of the game. Unfortunately, the Perth hackers chopped Jules about on that one and we didn't score.
However, Khazzouh has locked his man down inside the paint in every home game this year in the opening seconds of play and has received a pass just once - last week from Dann.
Not sure about Madgen starting unless he resists the temptation to dribble into a tight spot, then try and shoot his way out of it - he's been blocked a lot this year on this type of play.
When he gets (and takes) an open look, he's been deadly.
Let's imagine the above starting line-up (with Dann ahead of Knight) with Martin, Madgen, Sanders all shooting with confidence, Dann hustling inside to draw some heat and thereby giving Jules some additional space - IMO, a recipe for a much better looking starting line-up.

then .. you're challenged to quantify what you're on about ... you go off & sulk.
C'mon !!!!
Mate I was having a go at the dude who brought it up, not the Croc guy. It has nothing to do with the Crocodiles, it's my personal handle, that's all. It might have something to do with me as a person.
As for sulking, where the hell does that fit in?
Finally I am not on about anything, why is the guy living in Cairns supporting the Croc's? I don't really care, but I am not asking if he is a spy or anything.
Congrats on the win Croc's, perhaps the Bulletin will now write something about the game.

13 posts and already lambasting the club. Having said that I also noticed there was not a column inch of coverage of the Crocs although they have had some exposure over recent days.
They'll win to night for sure - if they lose....geeeeezzzzzzz......
Re your name.....change for what?

Here ... esp. the bolded part..
I know Hinder was on the front page of the paper but it had nothing to do with the games against the Kings.
I was just wondering why the Bulletin didn't run any kind of story re the game, it is game day isn't it?
That's all, the local paper runs stories on the Fury front centre and back, I was just asking the question as to why nothing about the Croc's on a game day Saturday.
If nothing changes, nothing changes.....hence time for a change.

Ok, some observations from the game...
First... I'm certainly hoping the Kings coaching staff watch that game tape to learn how to train getting your shooters open... I think only one of Crawford's 3PT attempts was anywhere close to being challenged properly (which he made an awesome shot) overall, an F for perimeter defence tonight...
Otherwise, I thought they did a decent job... I think I've gotten over wanting to win, and am quite calm post game... During the game, I wanted to throttle the refs, at least in the first half... I don't think that I've had a decent whinge about the standard of reffing so far this season, but that first half was ATTROCIOUS... Even with my one-eyed blinders on, the Kings were getting mauled underneath with nothing being called... Also, nearing the end of the 2nd quarter, can someone more knowledgable explain to me please, why, when Blalock fumbled a pass into the backcourt, it wasn't a violation?
Luke got over his two stupid ballhandling errors from very early on, and did an ok job, but they just looked like a different team when Dickel came on, I think they were down by 7 or so, and they just seemed much more confident and organised... Overall, I think once Dickel gets some conditioning, he should do well... He played a long stretch and was slow to walk off when he got rested, which would be understandable, and he took two of the worst airballs I've seen, but in contrast, his other two outside shots were sweet, so there's a reason behind WHY he took them, just so obviously didn't have the legs... As a floor leader he was solid though... getting pumped up and directing traffic a lot better than what we've seen so far... That alley oop pass to Sanders(?) though was WAY off and too early and while the regular 2pts would have been great, he was smart enough to know that if they nailed it, the crowd would have went nuts... A gamble that I like to see them take, as the crowd really responded well to Gilders few dunks...
Speaking of which, it looks like he might have just saved his job with this one... I can't believe that he got 6 blocks, I would have swapped his and Jules totals around, but most of them happened up the other end, so I guess I didn't spot it correctly... a much tougher performance and I liked him doing those couple of make up plays when he stuffed up a couple of times, and when he got hard done by late in the game he got that monster block and you could see he was playing angry, which I think helped...
Dann was a big stand out tonight, and like someone else mentioned previously (here or Kings thread) you can see that he's looking to get the ball into Jules, doesn't force it, but he's got a really good eye, and his effort was great, especially since Jules played every minute and looked to get a bit tired and not as active, so Dann's great effort overall really helped...
I'm not sure playing Jules every minute was helpful... Again he didn't get much action in the 2nd half, but he was getting tustled around pretty well, so giving him a few minutes spell might have helped... At least he didn't foul out this time :)
During the game, I thought the Croc big guys were pretty quiet, and hardly saw Big Red, so our guys must have done a solid job on them, especially with Knight not even getting 10mins against them (another big tick for Dann, I think, if someone can confirm?) and when he WAS on and guarding Rosell, he was giving him a LOT of space when he was a fair way out... Mr Cosby next to me at one point thought that we only had four players on the court as no-one was obviously guarding him...
I'm going to have to agree with Mr Cosby that there's a LOT of times that our guys make it into the paint, but try to dish when they are relatively open
take the damn shot!
Maybe certain players have been told they're to be pass first?
Anyways, props to the crowd on the most part of staying in their seat until the final buzzer, as when I got up with two timeouts to go to stand up the top of the stairs ready to go, hardly anyone else was moving, it was actually pretty great to see... I'm surprised at the numbers of 4500 being there as it looked more full than the 5000 game last time, with the lower seating more compactly filled and a good scattering of fans in the middle upper tier...
maybe he can be player coach for the Kings
I think I've already mentioned this ;) Again, late in the game, it looked like there was no game plan whatsoever... It was back to one pass, then try to force your way into the key to score...
Again, another disappointing loss, moreso this time as it looked at times that we were capable of eeking out this one, but then the Crocs would nail a few very open threes, and it would stretch out to double figures again... Some really exciting parts though, which I hope will be a regular occurance, as that is certainly needed when the wins aren't coming...
they cut the lead and got close, ryan was subbed on , lead blew out again hmmmm
Right after that Blalock fumble into the backcourt thing, he got it down to Williamson in the corner for a wide open three... guess who was supposed to be guarding him? Hmm...

Hmmmm. I'm really not sure what everyone sees in Dann. Every time he does something with the ball I find myself thinking "Oh no! Pass it! PASS IT!" and if his shot goes in, it's more relief than genuine joy. I think both Dann and Martin look to get it to Khaz a little TOO much, especially when he's under pressure. It's a good thing that Khaz has pretty good hands and is often able to reel in the risky passes.
It was a disappointing loss, but at this stage, I just want to be entertained more than anything else, and it was an entertaining game. Some nice dunks, although mixed in with the usual sloppiness and piss-poor D we've come to expect from this Kings squad. I mean seriously, how many times are we going to get beaten by the exact some back-cuts before we figure out how to counter it?

I like Dann's hustle, and while I think Martin is the main offender with throwing some crazy passes in to Jules (you're right about him having great hands, some of the passes he reels in have been mind boggling), I think Dann is one of those that's gotten told he shouldn't shoot too much, as he dribbles into teh key and then forces it to someone else, which I think is where most of his brain fades/turnovers come from...
I don't think anyone on the team however is exempt from poor handling of the ball tonight... Some real shockers... Nearly as bad as their D :(

Come on Daevo, we know that stats don't tell the whole story ;) I'm sure he contributed in many other valuable areas... lol... Wait, no, I can't go on... Probably the most inaffective player per minute then I would wager? Well, currently on the roster at least...
That stat is a little mischievious because it is total minutes played, but more than anything he has been poorly used. He should play one side of the court, working from wing to corner spreading the defence and shooting the three if his man leaves him. He hasnt been shooting brilliantly, but he has had to force stuff up at times when nothing else is working - he has hit a decent enough % of open looks that the defence needs to stick on him.
The Kings should use that to their advantage - he should never set foot in the paint offensively and should not be running pick and rolls. He is shooter, X marks the spot, catch and shoot.

I can do that - with some reservations.
They won on the road
But...against a team thats what 1 and 14 - they should have bloody well won on the road. They should have swept the floor with them.
I posted the shooting percentages of the big men; what was it....3 from 17 - and where any of them from further out than 5 foot?
They won the rebound count but lost the t/o duel
Both teams shot the ball woefully....low 40%...and we shot 50% from the line - poor by any measure.
Will, PC and Williamson all stood up and produced.
All in all a win but one that they should have gotten but one without the exclamation point they could have and perhaps should have made.
Using my self-made barometer of scoring - the Crocs output was "failed to please" and the Kings was "pathetic". A game I probably wouldn't have really enjoyed as a BB spectacle
Now I see that to be a fair description of their effort....no?

Most people, when they show a deep hatred for something, will back up their remarks with a reason for their feelings. Most people can justify their negative comments, and if they feel that strongly about something, they usually aren't afraid to say why.
For whatever reason, Bob can neither state what his issue with the club is, nor can he make a simple comment - it always has to be disguised as a "maybe/perhaps/or am I" childrens nursery rhyme. I'm guessing that whatever the reason he has to hate the Crocs is, it's either extremely unjustified, or he is too embarrassed to say.

That's all, the local paper runs stories on the Fury front centre and back, I was just asking the question as to why nothing about the Croc's on a game day Saturday.
"Crocs pay players on time, win games" isn't as enticing a headline as "Fury need $1,500,000 in a month". (And I'm a Fury supporter :( )
Also, the Fury were at home and the Bully (as sponsors) were trying to drum up ticket sales. The Crocs get that level of coverage for home games.

Crap. Where does it say that a critique of a team performance has to only be couched in positive terms.
I was asked to say something positive - I did. They won and a few guys played well. But against the Kings - well frankly, anyone and everyone is beating their ass so a 7 pt spread...hardly a convincing win, now is it.
And from what I heard....aside from a burst of scoring of 8-2 - the Crocs played on par with the worst team in the league.
But a win is a win.
I then gave a critique of the game that was realistic and hardly one that was inaccurate.
I'll leave the fawning and orgasmic descriptions to the died-in-the-wool, love-my-team-no-matter-what and truly rusted-on fans.

Crap. Where does it say that a critique of a team performance has to only be couched in positive terms.
I was asked to say something positive - I did. They won and a few guys played well. But against the Kings - well frankly, anyone and everyone is beating their ass so a 7 pt spread...hardly a convincing win, now is it.

Yet when the Crocs beat the top of the table Breakers on NYE, you said.....nothing. Not even a box score analysis, which is really the extent of your input here. Why not?

Thanx, Meg
Whats not to like?!?! Thrashed the #1 team - outshot em from the field...outrebounded them...good 3 pt %. All seemed to contribute.
Play like that consistently and they'll go somewhere.

Are people over-reacting here?
Fact is, the Crocs won. That is indeed a positive, for Croc fans, sitting on the fence Croc fans & it was even acknowledged by a supposed Croc hater.
It still remains that it wasn't a convincing win. A win against a team with a coach that even diehard Kings fans don't think is uP to scratch. Against a lower budget team, that has gone through major personnel changes & significant injury setbacks.
You'd have to be Southern Joe blinkered (no disrespect intended), to see that win as a statement of superiority, or a leapfrog to the Grand Final.
FFS, move on.

Honestly - if the boys cant go to Sydney and slap those girls around and win by a healthy margin - they're pretenders.
They'll win to night for sure - if they lose....geeeeezzzzzzz......
Scores are all level in Sydney...Kings doing very well so far.
LS - 2 pts
Hinder - 0 pts
R Ellis - 4 pts
B Allen - 2 pts
Aggregate - 4 for 17
Huh....?
I can do that - with some reservations.

If you think that these posts are not from someone who doesn't have an agenda to make his team look bad, I'd be surprised. No one asked him to state that the team was firm title favourites because they beat the struggling Kings. He was asked to state the positives. He simply couldn't....or wouldn't, but then turns it around so that anyone that questioned why not is automatically a head-in-the-sand supporter. And this happens every time, all the while he protests his innocence. It's the most pathetic routine.
So no, it's not an over reaction. It's the perfect reaction.

Cussy cussy cussy...the obsession continues. wanna know what I had for morning tea as well?
For the record. I thought they would win and more importanly I said they outta win and win big. No agenda there although for a conspiracy nutter like yourself - I can see the grist for your mill.
The post on the "Kings doing well" was a joke as the game hadn't even started yet and I was...never mind....forget it.
The cumulative states on the big men were just that - standout stats and ones I might add the Bulletin found merit in making mention of... Again - no agenda.
As for the rest of you post - I might point out that I've never claimed to be a fan of the team - hence I probably wouldn't or shouldn't be construed as a "fan" of the Crocs nor are they "my team".
More a follower of the team with an interest in how they do and there is a difference although the subtlety of it is probably beyond you.

Crap. Where does it say that a critique of a team performance has to only be couched in positive terms.
Easy ... right here ....
"say something positive about the crocs after last night's game."
Thats all you were asked to do. You weren't asked to do a match report ... you weren't asked to critique box scores ..... You were asked ONE thing.
.. In case you MISSED it ... here is that ONE thing ...
"say something positive about the crocs after last night's game."
I was asked to say something positive - I did.
... And if you had've just done that the worst thing you would've suffered is a sarcastic .. " See that wasn't so hard ...was it?"
They won and a few guys played well. But against the Kings - well frankly, anyone and everyone is beating their ass so a 7 pt spread...hardly a convincing win, now is it.
.. Look at the Kings losses... hardly anything that reads a blowout. 2 17pt losses & a bunch of low double digit losses. Its not like their getting their arses handed to them every week with development players scoring career highs against them. Look at the Doomsday Double ..... we lost by 4 pts to the 6ers then by only 3 pts to the defending champs.
I know its more the MANNER in which we've lost ... but I reckon we're due for a win ... the key is for the guys to actually hold on & grasp victory.
.. But don't play this Team A should always beat Team B crap .... if it ALWAYS worked .... then we should ALL be able to pick the winner every week.
And from what I heard....aside from a burst of scoring of 8-2 - the Crocs played on par with the worst team in the league.
But a win is a win.
.. Where did you hear this ? No-one has posted anything like that that was at the game ... or did we miss that?
I then gave a critique of the game that was realistic and hardly one that was inaccurate.
... You could've done that elsewhere ( don't know what evidence you would base it on...)
I'll leave the fawning and orgasmic descriptions to the died-in-the-wool, love-my-team-no-matter-what and truly rusted-on fans.

I love this internet thing - people make the rules and then make others abide by them.
I was asked to make a positive comment but because it was the ONLY thing presumably asked for (syntax would counter that btw) then my contribution HAS to end...there. Says who??
What is this some sort of totalitarian place?
If I have a comment to make - whether it meets or exceeds the point that was raised - so be it.
Geez...this is like a schoolyard in here.

... No disrespect intended ... but here we have a serial pest for his own team . He has a decent amount of history where he has bagged his own team & seems to take pleasure in their failings. Reminds of a Kings fan from years ago "Michellie".
Can I then expect that the next time someone pisses you off you'll just ignore them? ;)

While I have nothing of value to add to this debate (or much else for that matter), the name "Michellie" takes me back to a time where myself, Fat Lever and Manute Bol lurked on the old Kings forum and had numerous run-ins with her/him.
Anyway, after re-activating my account on here just recently, I look forward to once again being able to add minimal value on most subjects discussed.

It was eye-roll-worthy, and I moved on, thus the comparison. I never blamed you for coming up with it.
