The 'CJ stopper' couldn't have done too good of a job even if he was moved off him in the last. He still had about 25pts at a reasonable clip through the first 3 quarters on his way to finishing with 41.

Absolutely nothing sweeter than seeing Kilsyth lose and getting knocked out of the playoffs by Knox yet again.

Bring on Bendigo!!

CJ was 12/30 FG with Henderson on him. CJ hit his last 3 shots (all 3 pointers in last minute). So while CJ did get 41 he wasnt shooting a great percentage for a good part of the game.

He scored 18 in the final quarter and finished with 48% from the floor for the entire game.
Wonder if SEABL will reconsider their defensive player of the year award?? hehe

Saw someone's comments SEABL facebook - is this the development of the 'Cobrawobbles'???

http://twitter.com/DarylCorletto/status/21097332737[/URL]"]Tommy's flight got cancelled and he has to stay so he misses his Nunawading game, he is devastated.
How convenient for the Tigers.

CJ shot 45% from the field overall(15/33 FG including 7/13 from 3pt) but hit his last three shots all from downtown. Take those last 3 shots away and he shot 40% which isnt anything spectatular.

Credit to CJ though, he hit 3 big three pointers all in a row and all in the clutch. It certainly didnt seem like he had 41 points. It may seem odd but I thought for the most part Quincy played good defence. Sometimes even good defence cannot stop a player.

Its a game Kilsyth shouldnt have lost though. They pretty much lead Knox for the whole game (knox got first points I think) except for the final 0.1 seconds. I just thought Kilsyth tried to defend their lead in the 3rd quarter, rather than keep scoring. Knox's defence definately lifted in the 3rd though.

Hopefully Knox can go on with their form and get another Championship now. If CJ stays that hot then good luck to the rest of the teams.

What happened? everyone was expecting him to be here...

Apparently missed his connecting flight!!

Right............!!!!

Hobart shot the lights out in the last and played very disciplined basketball. The experience of their team really showed.

Certainly would have helped having TG in the rotations, but there is no way of knowing if he would have changed the result.

Great work by Craig Simpson to take this team from 2nd last to minor premiers in 1 year. All the players worked really hard as a team this season but I thought the stand out improver was Chris Cameron. He came into the team pretty unfit and didn't seem to have his head in the right place early. Has really worked hard and was almost unstoppable in nearly every game in the second half of the season.

Big round of applause to Paul Flynn who played his last game of SEABL. Has been made an outstanding contribution to Spectres and is an inspiration to many young players. I'm sure he will continue to do so as a Coach in VJBL for Nunawading.

Bring on Season 2011!!

I guess you couldn't be in two places at the same time, but this write up indicates the Chargers Vs Spectres game was up there with one of the best ever as well.
http://www.themercury.com.au/article/2010/08/16/166211_sport-news.html

Chargers were 10 points down at 1/2 time apparently and 8 points down with 5 minutes to go. They won by 7!!!

Edit: Chuck Long didnt play nor did Greer.
Chuck and his partner Myra had a daughter Brienne.

curious your links go to a "no news id given" page. You have to preview your post and edit the link to move the [ /url] to the very end of the link, I'm not sure why but by default it places it in the middle. Direct link below:

I think it's because of the "[sdfgsdg]'s" in the middle of the links NBL/BA use, which is a pain because you can't just click straight to the link. I usually don't bother with them if they're like that.

You can edit the link once you've made your post - generally removing the [/url] tag and putting it in the correct spot (at the end of link) fixes this issue.

Good article here about Chuck Long and Myra Donkin's daughter's birth of Brienne.
http://www.themercury.com.au/article/2010/08/19/166941_sport-news.html

It is also interesting to know that former Chargers player Ben Harvey and current playing coach Anthony Stewart will both be coaching their respective Grand Finals and with tip off for both games @7:30 both will have a chance (I imagine) to become the 1st ever?? player / coach to do so? Not 100% sure on that. Did Flint ever achieve that?
I certainly would imagine that Stewart will be the 1st ever playing coach to do so.

Geelong to be sold out.

I forgot they played that night - was distracted by the election I think. In any case i wouldnt be betting on any SEABL games as too hard to predict finals.

Looks like CJ went cold within a week. Why couldnt he have shot 5-15fg this week. I think Kilsyth would of beat Bendigo this time.

In saying that I think Geelong will win, but my SEABL tipping in the mens has been poor.

Anyone else surprised by the release of Fernandez Lockett from the Snakes! Thought he had a pretty good year, more to it maybe? It's harsh if they are making him the scapegoat for a straight sets outing!

Melb Wildcat
09-09-2010, 09:58 PM
Lockett did play well but I think they can do better to be honest especially considering some the the great imports the SEABL is attracting lately. Although Henderson is a great defender I think as an import you need someone who is able to score more. Im sure they will get someone good. Wouldnt mind big Joe Werner coming back but probably dreaming there.

Quincy was awarded the team MVP at the Cobras awards night on Thursday.
Also the SEABL Defensive player of the year.
IMO that pretty much covers his requirements as an import.

I have also heard Lockett will not be back.

I like Quincy's game and he is versatile as he can play on almost anyone but just would like a bit more offensive imput from him. In saying that he looked more confident this season on offence than last year when teammates were yelling at him to take on players.

Tim Lang has signed with a German team. Seems to be a trend starting with Kilsyth cetres signing with German teams after Werner last season.

Does that mean Lang wont be back to Kilsyth in 2011 ? Obviously the European season will finish after the start of the SEABL season.

Melb Wildcat

Lang said that if his German team makes the play-offs he might miss the first few games of the SEABL season. He should be back with the Cobras next season.

Lang said that if his German team makes the play-offs he might miss the first few games of the SEABL season. He should be back with the Cobras next season.

So he'd be allowed to miss the start of the season as he's playing overseas?

Interesting the mens program will allow that? To my knowledge, in the past the "club hierarchy" has knocked back players who would arrive after the start of the season as they said it would be too 'disruptive'.

Another question though? Does this league change his restricted status? Considering he's not a Kilsyth junior?

Melb Wildcat
16-09-2010, 03:46 PM
I doubt it would change his status as a non-restricted player as he has been in the SEABL with Kilsyth for 2 years. I think its just 2nd division German league anyway so not sure if that makes him a fully professional. Damien Ryan wasnt a restricted player last season after his Euro stint to my knowledge.

Auryn MacMillan joined the Cobras during the past season after his college stint, so Im sure they would allow lang (who was a bit unlucky not to get an NBL offer) the same, especially as he has been with the team for a couple of seasons.
