PILON V1!!
Thankyou all for playing. I appreciate your patience (even you CoT  ) throughout the season. Whether there will be a 3rd year of FNBL will be a question to be answered at a later date. Cheers!

Congratulations Doc E and Pilon.
I really think the comp lost momentum because of the mid-season move, but your work here is much appreciated TRich.

I feel ripped off by Horvath breaking down and it never rolling around to my turn to replace him. :?

5th. I think I was around 5th or 6th for the entire season.
Not bad considering I stopped really paying attention a while ago.....and also my starting Centre missed nearly the whole season!
Also, I propose a change to the "48 hour" rule for new players.... If I remember correctly I was ranked 4th on the waiver list then missed out on getting Bryant Matthews (pretty sure it was him, someone lower than me on the list got him) because I wasn't on the net for just 2 days......

Great Job again T-Rich, top stuff!
See, I knew I would be relegated!
Give me a team in the NBL again, and I would pay more attention

I propose the top 10 scorers across both leagues form next year's division 1.
Those that got less than my score in league 1 don't deserve to stay there - it was my first ever Fantasy League in anything after all.
Proposed 05/06 Leagues:
League 1: McKinley, Grovedale, Chuck Nevitt, R. Turnstiles, Old Schoolers, Mayhem, Bettermen, Shazbats, Inhalers, Growlers.
League 2: All the other losers.
At least you'd have at least one league where everyone comes to play, there seemed to be at least 2 teams in each league that frankly gave up and didn't even bother to redo their teams after injuries. :?
Cousin Of Topcat

Question: How does how many 'games played' affect the results?
In league 1, Mayhem (the winner) only has 232 games listed, while the growlers played 249?
In league 2, it's even more varied: Rick Burton had 203, Chuck Nevitt 262!
Surely how many games you play, and thus how many times you can get stats/get an injury affects the ladder? Or am I totally wrong?
I thought it would even up at the end of the season considering your entire active roster theoretically should play the same amount of games.
jesuc jexus
24-02-2005, 09:03 PM
theoretically yes, but because of injuries and suspensions things become uneven and you have to fiddle with your line-up and positions to get the maximum games for each spot. its a tough ask. in the end games played has no direct impact on the ladder, its just there to help you get the most out of your team, like in the yahoo fantasy nba rotisserie leagues

Why not? I thoroughly outplayed a number of your league members, according to the stats. I fell down when Horvath got injured and TRich stopped doing regular updates/bids on new players.
Woulda loved to pick up Lowery for his assists late in the game, but he was never put up as available. :?

Even if you had finished in the top 2, we wouldn't let you get promoted, on the basis of you being a whiney little bitch. :P

you didn't thouroughly outplay shit. you didnt draft, trade or compete for free agents against any of us. i was in 8th with 2 weeks to go and by your reasoning i shouldn't still be in the first div had i not made a late surge, even though i busted my balls all season to make my team respectable after a terrible draft.

That's correct, if you hadn't had that late surge you shouldn't still be in the 1st division. Be thankful you did.
How did you 'bust your balls all season'? Did you make a trade i'm not aware of? You think drafting (i assume) Rillie, Burgess and Markovic and then picking up Matthews later on wasn't a good team? :?
jesuc jexus
24-02-2005, 09:54 PM
i was working the free agent list a fair bit. i dont know how many changes i made overall, but i was milking everything i could get out of my fa signings. i picked up rigby and bj carter before right as they began to make an impact. was also jiggling my line-up a little to get the most out of my possible games. i certainly didnt want to get relegated.
burgess (though sometimes injured) and rillie were great. knight was solid too, but markovic was extremely inconsistent and injured occaisionally, matthews came with most of the season already gone and couldve potentially butchered my ft% with his worse-than-shaq action on that front. and the rest of my team was a mishmash of fantasy ball chumps (morgan, mottram) and ok-ish but inconsistent guys (grabau, boucher). i also lost redhage, first to insignificant pt and then to nz's unsuccessful search for a better import.
are you seriously proposing that we change the system to accomodate your loud-arsed, ungrateful and unworthy self? i mean, if others from the original almighty guild of fnbl champions of champions want to step aside next season, then i guess some of you peon's from the slums of the nether-regions of stat-analysis might be allowed to wipe clean our seep-stained underwear, but otherwise, stick to munching on your slop soaked and stale bread and keep picking away at the mortar holding together your bluestoned confines. only the most worthy may acsend to the holy realm that we occupy
what?

Well composed. Ok, I know you're a *former* champion, 'spose that counts for something.
I know what you mean about shuffling the deck. I musta had Shanahan and Markovic in and out of my active team a half-dozen times. CJ had a long injury, which forced me to keep Shanahan in the game waaaayy more than he deserved to be, MacGregor went down for a few games which forced me to field Larry Davidson as I was loaded on guards (that get injured) but short on forwards, then Horvath goes down and I lose most of my boards. :? Of course, the Pigs being cheapskates refuse to move Horvath so i'm left with no 'playing' centre to pick up that can save my freefalling arse. And to top it off Stephen Black and Bobby Brannen play like Gods one week, el crappo the next. Only reliable week-to-week proposition was Stephen Hoare, who I got for a bargain in the late 40s.

COT, not sure if you can compare stats between 2 seperate leagues, with completely different teams and all.
It'd be like saying the Sydney Kings should be in the NBA ahead of Hornets.

All discussion about next season may be moot anyway. To be honest, from the mid-point of the season onwards, I didn't have the time to run the league as diligently as I would have liked. A promotion and a steady girlfriend can have that affect :)
Obviously, if circumstances change (ie. I get sacked & my girl regains her sense of taste) I would definitely run it again. Time will tell.

And so begins the group effort to get T-Rich sacked and/or dumped. If that's not a premise for a slapstick comedy movie, I don't know what is.

Absolutely Pilon (or should I say, "Champ*"). Let me stress that if I do have time to do it, I will.
Thinking about it, the only thing that takes time is my (painfully manual) update of the site. If that could be automated, there wouldn't be a problem. The stat-compiling is the easy bit - a 5 minute job in Access.
