word on the street... unconfirmed but from a fairly reliable source...
Brad Bridgewater and Tarriq Naqqash to Hume City for the 2010 season... If that's the case then they'll again be a huge title chance !!

Hmmm... I would take Crosswhite over Bridgewater anyday of the week, and I would say Maybank and Naqqash are probably about level...
So seeing as though they didnt even make the finals last season with those other players, I dont really see how they will being a championship contender with these new players. They just struggle with their depth and some quality local aussie players... too much is left with too few...
However, if they can get a few solid role players to support their stars, they should definitely make finals, and so you never know...

Crosswhite not returning but Bridgewater will do a decent enough job in the 5 spot. With a starting 5 of Maybank, Petridis, Naqqash, Bridgewater and sooky la la McIntosh, they will do ok. No depth & height coming off the bench will be the problem. Riches, Prendagast, Mitchell brothers, Davis, Sianidis will see little minutes this season.

Waverly again have made some big off-season signings... Sedale Threat Jnr (Sandringham) Voshon Weaver (Latrobe City) Glen Barlow (La Trobe City) and rumour is also Adrian Sturt (Melbourne Tigers)... will be suiting up next season for the Falcons... year after year they do a cleanout of players who are paid big bucks to win a title but never do, then bring in more players on big bucks to do the same thing... Interesting to see if these players can actually deliver... I must say these look to be the best bunch of players they've signed in years, and with Platnik, should be tough to beat.

Good numbers trying out down Warrandyte way, both men and women. Any rumours of players moving elsewhere in any divisions. Haven't heard much.....

Adrien Sturt is playing in Belgium until June, so is he going to be coming in late?
Also who is going to play Centre, no one mentioned so far is what I would call dominant, especially compared to other announcements.
I dont see Waverley as the team to beat....

Warrandyte have announced both their squads...posted on their website.

It always sounds good how you are marketing yourselves - and I really do mean that - and wish you well.
But if you are going to put those "sponsored by" tags on, you really need to make it sound like you are more successful in bringing in the bucks than how it currently is.
It reads a bit like "desperate and dateless" at the moment.
Latest Edition of Overtime is released.

Not sure about Sturt playing for Waverly, as I said, it was just a rumour. Yes they do look lacking in the centre position. Steinke is big, but doesnt produce massive numbers, however Barlow led the league in rebounding last season so he can surely carry a heavy load.
Other news from around the league...
Ringwood look likely to retain their core again, however hearing that Snowball might not be playing.... and another solid import could take them one step further...
Hume City will be tough if Tariq does play... although he played SEABL last season and was a Dragons squad member, hasnt played in the Big V Championship division before, I think he has a point to prove...
Diamond Valley look in trouble, word from the Valley is Fennell has left and signed with Bulleen, Cunningham has hung up the boots (for how long?), Cullinan will be playing only football, rumour is Burns has retired... Although they always seem to punch above their weight, will be tough to repeat last seasons performance without those players...
Eltham just seem to be treading water every season.. Lowery is solid, as a former NBL champ should be, but the team doesnt look like it will make finals every year... Will Moore stay? Will Lister go around again?
Things are starting to heat up... any other news?

He will play, they dont have a point to take over. Looks like they will have only 8 decent players so it might be a struggle this season. The import looks solid but like all of the college guys they get he will be pretty dissapointed with the way they work and the lack of intesity. Recruiting is something this club just cant seem to do at all except for the odd college pick up. Nothing in the YL1 camp who could play at Champ level although one sure thinks he can.
Even worse news for the womens teams there. After all the big talk about playing in champ the "finnished 7th" div 2 squad will be found wanting and will be a mess. Nothing short of a miracle will make them competative. Frantic attemps at finding players all seem to point to the old issue of who wants to play for what coach...............wink wink.
The youth league team is again going to find it very tough new coach and all. Same group as last season with little to offer form the junior ranks. Word is they cut the blonde point guard they had last season. If they have no one else new then the others will struggle. Again no recruiting no juniors to speak of makes for a pretty bleak road ahead.

Alright Cheapseats....i thing its time you started to focus on your new Club at Darebin instead of worrying about other clubs. Time to build a bridge TK!!!
If you have a beef with another Club (in this case it seems to be Ringwood), thats fine but how about you handle it with some class and not on a public forum where quite frankly we dont care. I think your information and comments are wrong and ill informed anyway.
Has anybody around the Big V got any factually correct information?
I hear Glen Barlow is on his way home from Sweden and will be ready come tip off next season.

Sorry Dog but I disagree. I love everyone putting in there rumors and theories.
Thats what a public forum is all about. Listen to all the rumors from all directions.
Once everyone has said their piece, spit about 95% out and you are left with actual fact.
I think it's great how this forum has contributors from allover Aus all having their say.
Things are contributed a good week before they are made public.

DOGA............sorry but who ever you think your talking too your wrong. And if I am right about you then you should be in a position to tell all and clear up the chances of the Ringwood womens teams. Perhaps you can put some factual info up about your own team.
The Hawks camp has that many people not happy about the place its easy to get info out of there.
EDIT: I realise now who you think I am DOGA. HAHAHA Nice try but way off base. Think a little closer to home. You know what they say keep your freinds close and your ENEMIES closer.
So if my info is so wrong, prove it because all the people I speak to around the place all say exactly THE SAME THING about Ringwood. A jump to Champ based on an Indian import and the SAME group who finnished 7th last season in D2 is hard to fathom. What big names have signed on ? Who or what is going to make the difference ? Just what makes you thiunk they will be anymore than cannon fodder in Champ W ??
So Dog, r u really barking up the wrong tree :-)
Isn't there a rule against identifying people on this forum?
I mean I don't know much, but I immediately understood who you were outing (or at least trying to out).
I also wanted to say that both you, and the other more recently arrived cheap seats (not from the cheap seats), are showing very similar characteristics.
I have just been chided for bagging frankston over on the SEABL thread.
Now I don't know who either of you are, but you are both displaying a characteristic that I have found very common with our basketball administrators - SILENCE ALL CRITICS - starve them of oxygen - threaten - ridicule - sweep things under the carpet - do whatever you can to preserve yor position - oh, and is there any time left to represent the interests of your association's constituents?
I too know what it is like to be frustrated with my local association - who knows whether our reasons or motives are the same - but what I do know is that a quality association won't have this sort of dissent - they will encourage and welcome diversity of opinion - always try to turn a negative into a positive - and in such an environment, you will notice that the critics seems to disipate - likely because you can harness their malcontent into something more positive for them and the association.
I find that when I step over the line here and become too hysterical, there is no shortage of posters who are prepared to give me a kicking, and that is how it should be.
I think it's called, "being accountable".
I'd like to see a bit more of it, or maybe even some of it, at my local association.
Oh, and I forgot to say that I think over at Darebin they have a new director of coaching called Mark somebody or other.
I believe he is the Mark who has been running the Tigers boys/Ken Watson Academy development squads for the last couple of years over at Oakleigh. They run for about 2 months leading up to tryouts.
I want to say that he has conducted the best U12 and under sessions I have yet seen. 2 hours of control and discipline where the kids learn not only skills but how to conduct themselves. Despite the range of ages and ability, I didn't see many if any kids getting bored. He actually gives of himself into the sessions. So many of the ones I have seen run, the coaches just couldn't really give a fark. Or are just too young.
Anyway, if he is as good at director of coaching as he is at delivering that program then Darebin are in good hands (that is if they give him a chance).
That said, if he really is so good, why in his late 40's is he not already in a more prominent leadership position in basketball in our state?

Well the Chelsea Men recruiting long time Cougars Tom Burns & Nick Richards is a significant change. Obviously the de-Mann-ing of McKinnon is still having ramifications if these two players have left this once very close knit Club.
Both guys played major roles in McKinnon winning their 2009 Championship so I'd wonder how competitive the Cougars will actually now be in Div 2.
The heart & sole of McKinnon now appears to be gone.
I'm also still waiting to here which key players Keysborough have recruited to justify their inclusion into Div 1 Men. Has the Club provided their list of players to the Big V board to reassure the Executive that it is not left with egg on its face.
Likewise with Ringwood Women moving to Championship - surely only a few of the existing players are going to be there when the Championship season starts.

Some good points Old Hack. But I would not write off McKinnon just yet. Interesting to see that their Under 18 Boys have made it into VC ahead of some of the bigger clubs such as Kilsyth, Frankston, Nunawading, to name a few. A pretty good effort I would say!
